Academy Squad

In partnership with Halo Leisure, Bridgend County Swim Squad operates an academy programme as a link to the Development Squad.

The Academy provides the opportunity for talented swimmers in Halo's Learn to Swim Programme (who have been nominated by their swimming teacher) to be fast tracked into the Development Squad by providing a weekly 1 hour stroke development/drill session in addition to their Halo Learn to Swim lesson.

Academy groups are currently in operation at Maesteg, Pyle & Ynysawdre pools and with the aim of helping support the production of talented club swimmers of the future.

The cost is only 12 a month, payable to Bridgend County Swim Squad via Standing Order.

Bridgend Swim Squad Academy Programme is the foundation level of the Club.

For Bridgend Swim Squad, this is an important programme as it is where vital development skills, technique and character building are taught for swimmers to use all the way through their long term development.

The Academy focuses on skills, skills and more skills.

For us as a Club we develop swimmers to have the best possible technique and skill foundation so they are able to further their development from Age Group to Youth and then onto Senior swimming.

A fast swimmer with poor technique and skills will only go so far.

A swimmer with great skill and great technique can go on to achieve great things.
