Welcome to Bridgend County Swim Squad    Croeso i Garfan Nofio Penybont Ar Ogwr

Competitive Skills Squads

The Competitive squads are where swimmers will start to take the basic techniques and skills they have learned in Development and begin to transition those into a training group and into regular competition. This is the section of the club where swimmers will start competing on a regular basis whilst building on the foundations of the development squads.  As swimmers progress through the Competitive squads there will be a gradual increase in pool time and distance swam in order to begin building their aerobic capacity whilst also introducing land work to their weekly program. The emphasis on starts, turns and finishes will be the focus for swimmers while always making an effort to improve technique on a daily basis.

Equipment

Swimmers will need to bring with them each session: -

 •    A swimming hat (for those with long hair)

•    Alignment board

•    Pull Buoy

*Based on the ongoing continuous assessment swimmers that are not making the squad requirement will be reviewed.

If no improvement is being shown, swimmers may be moved to a squad that better suits their development.
