Welcome to Bridgend County Swim Squad    Croeso i Garfan Nofio Penybont Ar Ogwr

Development Squads

The Development Squad(s) is the entry level at Bridgend County Swim Squad and is the 1st squad that swimmers enter and start their competitive journey. Swimmers who enter the club should be at a minimum of Wave 7 of the Swim Wales Aqua Passport Learn to Swim Framework or at an equivalent entry standard. Swimmers should have a basic understanding of all four strokes and the main focus of the squad(s) is on skills acquisition, skill development, stroke technique and body position.

The aim of this squad is to provide a non-threatening environment for children who show desire and ability to undertake competitive or recreational swim training. Swimmers will be given the opportunity to develop and improve technique on all four strokes and start to develop basic training and racing skills. Swimmers within the section will learn the basic skills of streamlining, sculling, starts and turns and finishes whilst still developing all 4 strokes technically. The emphasis is on technique and having FUN!

Swimmers will either go into Development White (where they will train in Pyle) or into Development Blue (where they will train in Ynysawdre). These are identical squads which will work towards the same outcomes and criteria’s.

Swimmers can ONLY ATTEND one site and are not to cross sites.

The selection of sites will be based on the preferences of parents unless one site is full and then they will only be offered the site with spaces available.
